Teachings

The first noble truth is life is frustrating and painful. The second noble truth is suffering is caused by the ego, which is all linked to ignorance. The third noble truth is there is a way to end the suffering, and the fourth noble truth is the way to end the suffering is found in the Eightfold path.

Eightfold Paths

The Eightfold path is divided into three categories with eight steps. The first category is wisdom. The first step in wisdom is the right understanding, this means looking at the world with no ego, attachment or desire. The second step is the right thought which means thoughts of renunciation, good-will, and no violence. The second category is morality. The third step is right speech this means, abstain from lying, malicious speech, abusive speech, and frivolous talk. The fourth step is right action. This means abstaining from taking life, taking what has not been given, and improper sexual activities. The fifth step is right livelihood. This means doing what is right with one's life. The third category is mental development. The sixth step is right endeavor. This means generating desire, basically saying get rid of bad thoughts. The seventh step is right mindfulness, this means you remain focused on one's actions, speech and livelihood. The eight step is right concentration, this means to leave all selfishness behind you and gain a heart of compassion, focusing only on helping others.
